TGIF!

My lovely readers!
I am so GLAD to be here writing for you after such a stressful week. You can't even imagine.
It's Friday! Thank goodness! I SURVIVED A WEEK OF SCHOOL!
Last Thursday I wrote a post explaining my dissatisfying class situation. I'd tried changing classes because I wasn't content with mine... In fact, I was in crisis. I had no friends, and several teachers that I'm not fond of.
The school did not accept my request to change classes.

And I'm grateful for that. Because a week later, everything seems less scary. That is the truth. I've met really nice people. I've made friends. Come to think of it, it's almost insulting to them how badly I wanted to change classes that first day.

To summarize my week, it was mostly fine, if not good. I've come to understand how BUSY this year is going to be for me.
My teachers have crammed so much information into each hour of class about the projects for the year and what they will mean for my future.
For example, in December, like all 9th graders in France, I will be attending a "stage", which is a week in the enterprise of my choice to observe how business works.
It could be anywhere from a bakery to a police station.
By the end of November I need to know where my stage will take place: this means deciding where I want to go, sending my CV and a request letter, and being confirmed.
I'm still not completely sure, but because I want to be a journalist I'm thinking a stage in the press.

Anyway, on a total other note, I wanted to announce a few changes to my blog. With my recent blogoversary, I decided I need to promote my blog a little and make it a more elaborate.
The first change you will notice is my new "Moi" picture:

The second change you will notice is the "About Moi" page. What do you think?

Also, (I still haven't done this but plan to this weekend) I am going to make a facebook page for The Veggie Polyglotographer.
For some reason, I was opposed to it the whole time I've been blogging. But I know it's a great tool for blog traffic and connecting with others. So I'm pretty excited about this!
Let me know in the comments if you have a fb page for your blog, and I'll definitely follow. :)

I hope you all have a relaxing friday night, and a weekend filled with fun!

  1. Glad to hear your school week ended up-beat. Bet you're happy you took on the challenge and made new friends. Anyone who works or attends school with a Monday through Friday schedule will tell you that the last day of their week is a welcome relief. And each Monday, the countdown to Friday begins again. I remember it from my corporate days in LA in the 60s, when the acronym was first introduced. It quickly became every worker's mantra. Now it's universal. Interesting how acronyms have become so commonplace around the world today. I think being studying the press is a great idea. You're a good writer. Why not Facebook? A super way to promote your blog.

  4. I understand the whole school situation!! My teachers cram information too and homework!! They give reading like it's nothing!!!! (I mean 100 pages in 2 days is not possible when I have 3 other essays due and a race to attend!!)

Your new moi picture is so pretty!! Facebook is a really good place for traffic if you can keep up with it! I have my own fb page and it brings in a tiny bit of traffic. I find fb to be a good place to communicate with readers !

  5. Nice photos Carmen! And we love the shirt you chose to wear for them. :) Alex has the same one--it's one of her favorites. So glad your first week of school went well! Stephie has a similar situation this year...she was only with one good friend from last year and all the others are in the other class. She is doing fine! It forces you to look around and be social with someone new. See you soon--we are so excited for your visit! Stephie wants to do some cooking with you, and Alex has decided to try out a vegetarian lifestyle so we will have to exchange notes and recipes! xoxo

  6. P.S. I think having to do a "stage" is a great opportunity...I wish I had been able to do that in high school. Hopefully you'll get to go somewhere worthwhile. Can you try a few different places over the years or do you have to focus on one subject area? In the US (Maryland at least) kids have to do 75 hours of "Service Learning" hours (volunteer service) in order to graduate from high school but it is less focused so not necessarily a learning opportunity for one's future career. It's still great to do service projects though--you learn a lot about your community and you contribute to society in a positive way.

    1. I have to focus on one area only. I don't think I'll have to do service projects, but maybe I'm wrong! It sounds interesting.
